Lisa Goodman is the Director of Investor Relations & Shareholder Services at PNM Resources. She has over 17 years of experience in various financial roles at PNM, was one of the first 150 professionals in the US to achieve the Investor Relations Charter credential, and was recently recognized for the second year as a top Investor Relations Professional in the utility industry by Institutional Investor. Lisa also serves as the Chair of the PNM Resources Foundation and has been involved with numerous non-profit organizations in New Mexico. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Purdue University. Lisa is a 2017 Connect New Mexico Graduate.

RiskSense co-founder Mark Fidel is responsible for advocating and growing RiskSense’s client portfolio in New Mexico and Arizona where RiskSense is headquartered. Mr. Fidel is also a licensed New Mexico attorney and brings more than 16 years’ experience in law and litigation. Mr. Fidel earned an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Mexico and his law degree from the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law.

Get to Know Justine Johannes
Justine Johannes is the Director of the Material, Physical, and Chemical Sciences Center. In this capacity she directs the Center in providing materials expertise and innovation to enable success in national security missions. Justine is responsible for leading Sandia’s Materials Research Foundation, ensuring that the R&D performed sustains and grows the expertise for the Laboratory. Mrs. Johannes started her career at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque in 1994 after completing her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Karissa Culbreath, PhD

Dr. Karissa Culbreath is a clinical microbiologist at the University of New Mexico and the Director of Infectious Diseases at TriCore Reference Laboratories. Karissa holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology. She serves the community in various capacities and has been recognized for her roles in leadership and community development. Karissa is a sought after speaker and author of her first children’s book, Daddy’s Little Girl which has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Karissa has a passion to empower individuals to achieve spiritual, emotional and personal balance and seeks to provide people of all ages with the tools to achieve this challenging task. By far, her greatest achievement is in her personal life — she is blessed to share her life with her husband, daughter, and son.

 

David G. Grenache, PhD

Dr. Grenache is the chief scientific officer for TriCore Reference Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In that role, he leads the TriCore Research Institute and works cooperatively to develop and implement TRICOR’s scientific research strategy. He is also the medical director of the chemistry, immunology, and esoteric analytic chemistry labs, a clinical professor of pathology at the University of New Mexico, and president of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Grenache earned his PhD in biomedical sciences from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, and completed postdoctoral training in clinical chemistry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Speaker – Dr. John D. Floros, President of New Mexico State University

Renowned food scientist and academic leader John Floros became President of New Mexico State University on July 1, 2018. Prior to his current role, he was dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of K-State Research and Extension at Kansas State University. Dr. Floros served as professor and head of the department of food science at Pennsylvania State University (2000-2012), as professor at Purdue University (1988-2000), and worked as an international industry consultant for more than 35 years. He earned his PhD in food science and technology from the University of Georgia.
Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recognized him for his “Distinguished service to the people of U.S.A.” as a member of the Science Board to the FDA.

Session 1 – Los Alamos, September 25-28, 2019

The Connect Class of 2020 began with their first session on September 25-28 in Los Alamos. The program began with lunch and tour of the Valles Caldera, followed by a welcome dinner hosted by Roger Waterman & Emily McGay, Core Class of 2006 and 2009, respectively. On Thursday at Pajarito Mountain Ski Lodge, the class participated in introductions and a personal leadership skill building workshop with Phil Bryson, On the Edge Productions. The day concluded with dinner at the Bandelier National Monument. On Friday, the class heard presentations on a variety of subjects from respected experts in their field, followed by dinner at Bradbury Science Museum. The session concluded on Saturday with more presentations at the Pajarito Mountain Cliffs County facility.

Session 2 – Las Cruces, November 13-16, 2019

The Connect Class of 2020 met for the second time in November in Las Cruces. The program began with a Golf Clinic at the NMSU driving range and was followed by dinner at La Posta de Mesilla Restaurant. On Thursday, the class participated in a tour and Command Brief of White Sands Missile Range with presentations on a variety of topics from respected experts in their fields. The day concluded with dinner at Allen Theatres’ Launchpad Cafe. On Friday, the class heard more from industry experts on critical issues facing New Mexico, and New Mexico State College of Agricultural, Consumer & Environmental Sciences. The day closed with dinner at the Bobby Lee Lawrence Academy of Wine – Gerald Thomas Hall. On Friday, the final day of the session, the class met at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine to continue learning from speakers.

Session 3 – Roswell, January 14-17, 2020

The final program session of 2020 was held in Roswell. The program began with a tour of Dean Baldwin painting and was followed by dinner at Pioneer Bank. On Wednesday, the class gathered at Eastern New Mexico University – Roswell to hear from speakers on topics relating to municipal, county, and state level issues and structures. Dinner that evening was held at the home of Bill & Sandra Davis. Thursday’s educational component was held at Roswell Museum and Art Center and featured speakers on the topic of education, including K-12 and higher ed. The class then toured MISTIC Inc. Matrix International Security Training Intelligence Center and Three Amigos Dairy.  The group finished the day with dinner at at the Historical Society of Southeast New Mexico. Friday’s activities included team building exercises at the New Mexico Military Institute led by Phil Bryson. The group then toured and had dinner at the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art with their graduation ceremony following!
